The Magdalena and Bolivar lumbar pillows in this collection were created from the “extra fabric” derived from their matching standard square pillow sizes. The full line of these designs were purposely created with the goal of zero-waste in textile production.
The Magdalena River is the main river of Colombia and an important one, providing the nation’s drinking water and contributing to agricultural and energy powers. The river flows from western highlands of the country and ends in the Atlantic Ocean at the Caribbean coast.
Handspun yarn varies in texture and color.

Meet the maker Zuahaza
A group of women artisans in the rural village of Charalá masterfully handcraft Zuahaza's organic home decor. Nestled in Colombia’s Andes mountains, these artisans hand spin, dye, weave, and sew each Zuahaza product. They construct each piece from organic cotton sourced from Peru, natural dyes, and biodegradable materials. Their production techniques also utilize water-saving and minimal waste principles. Founder and head designer Tatiana Ordoñez’s Colombian roots inspire her designs through the traditional art forms and artisan techniques that each Zuahaza piece of organic home decor celebrates. All of Zuahaza’s women artisans receive fair, equal living wages and earn nearly double Colombia’s minimum wage.
