All of Kiliim’s products are handcrafted, which makes each product unique. All cotton in Kiliim products is premium Egyptian cotton sourced from the local markets, and then rolled, spun and dyed in digital dye houses in Cairo. All of the colored wool yarn in their rugs and pillows is spun from upcycled remnants from Cairo carpet factories to make use of fibers that may otherwise be discarded.

Dry clean recommended for best results. Hand wash cold with non-bleach detergent. For stains scrub with gel detergent & leave to air dry. Do not use bleach or stain remover. Do not tumble dry. Products are for indoor use. Do not expose to direct sunlight.

Exchanges and returns for store credit are free for your first request on all eligible items. Returns for a refund are subject to a $7.95 fee for return shipping and handling. Final sale items* are not eligible for return. Please initiate your return/exchange within 30 days of order fulfillment. All returns and exchanges must be unworn, unwashed, unused, and in original condition with tags to be eligible for return. Refunds or exchanges will not be processed for returned items that have been used or show signs of visible wear.

Kiliim is an Egyptian social enterprise and a lifestyle brand that aims to revive and sustain the local craft of handmade kilim making in Egypt by introducing modern designs to a time-honored technique. Manufactured in Fowwa, a village situated along the Nile Delta, Kiliim’s craftspeople come from a long line of kilim artisans. They view their craft as part of their heritage and receive living wages for their traditional, heritage craft. Each purchase supports Kiliim’s initiative to put Fowwa back on the local and international map for authentic kilim rug craftsmanship.

Even today, many rug vendors disclose little to no information about how their rugs are produced. And buying a rug online is challenging because you have to figure out how the scale and color(s) will relate to what you already have in your room. I appreciate all the efforts that the Made Trade folks went to in order to help me purchase with confidence.
