Make a trendy style statement while investing in a future heirloom piece that will last many lifetimes. While preserving the iconic look of the original safari chair by . Kaare Klint in the early 1930's, this version has a modern appeal. Our partner, Rose & Fitzgerald designed the arms to be narrow and sharp, creating a stunning silhouette of clean angles. Adding additional one-of-the-kind finishes with solid brass hardware, meant to uniquely patina over time for a lived-in look. Made with quality thick buttery, tan leather—all materials that combine to inject warmth and nostalgia into any interior. To pay homage to the truly wonderful place from which the chair derives, each is accented with a Ugandan 500 Shillings coin.

This chair is masterfully handcrafted in Uganda’s capital of Kampala. Emphasizing on quality skill and material, the frame is Mugavu wood, crafted and finished by a master-carpenter; heavy gauge pure brass for the hinges, hand-cut, buffed and polished by an in-house metal-smiths; and super sturdy yet supple leather from Kenya that will only get better with wear, hand-stitched by a group of talented seamstresses at Kampala-based Sseko Designs. From start to finish, each chair takes about two weeks to complete, utilizing the skill and touch of more than ten artisans all working in fair-trade environments.

To prevent leather from fading, limit exposure to direct sunlight or heat. Spot clean leather with a damp cloth or sponge and air dry. To protect and maintain the leather, we recommend using a leather conditioner as needed.

The brass pieces will develop a natural patina over time, but you can choose to keep them bright and shiny with standard brass polish. To avoid fingerprints, handle brass with a soft cloth.
