Chilote House Shoe
These beautiful fair trade slippers are handmade in small batches by women artisans in Patagonia, Chile with 100% locally sourced, sustainable materials. Hand-knitted with Patagonia sheep's wool and stitched with vegetable tanned salmon leather for the outsole. The salmon leather is upcycled from the local fishing industry, that would otherwise by thrown away, to create a unique, soft, and durable sustainable leather. Each pair of Chilote’s authentic, award-winning, sustainable wool slippers is knitted by hand in Patagonia, Chile by women artisans and crafted from 100% Patagonian sheep’s wool. Sustainability and adhering to ethical standards are at the heart of Chilote’s mission. Chilote uses salmon skin, a by-product of the fishing industry, to create the salmon leather that is used as the sole of their slippers.
Chilote has no factory. Instead, each pair of slippers is slow-made in the homes of Patagonian women living in rural areas. Chilote’s lead artisans in Patagonia work independently orchestrating their local network and production process to ensure a beautiful, quality product every time.
