Mother Erth’s one-of-a-kind clutches and totes are colorful, durable, upcycled — and 100% zero waste — sustainable statement pieces that will turn heads. Each Mother Erth bag is made from laminated plastic sheets discarded by factories in Asia (due to printing defects) that would otherwise be bound for the landfill. This is the same laminated plastic used in drink and sauce sachets across South East Asia. The sheets are cut down into strips and woven in bags by mothers in the Philippines. A tight, double layered weave is achieved using traditional weaving techniques and the deep rooted handles made from salvaged rattan makes each bag nearly indestructible. All Mother Erth’s women artisans are paid fair wages which are three times higher than what they could earn in their communities.
