Meet the maker Mari and Fätou
Mari + Fätou is an ethical women's clothing brand committed to sustainable practices. Inspired by Armenian, West African, and Persian aesthetics, Mari + Fätou combines modern designs with their artisan partners’ intricate handwork. They collaborate with a small, worker-owned factory with Khamir, a non-profit organization representing artisans from the Kachchh (Kutch) region in northern India. Working closely with these artisans, they support the artisans’ livelihoods and sustain traditional craftsmanship. Mari + Fätou's materials include organically grown, hand-spun, and handwoven Kala cotton, FSC-certified viscose fibers, silk, and readily available fabrics. They only use all-natural dyes derived from indigo, vegetables, and spices. These AZO-free and non-toxic dyes ensure the vibrancy of the colors while minimizing harm to the environment and people.
