Fouta Harissa is a women-owned business committed to sustainably creating beautiful and functional handwoven textiles for the home, beach, and travel. Designed in their studios in São Paulo, Brazil, their Tunisian Fouta blankets feature a thoughtful blend of modern aesthetics with traditional designs. Each blanket is traditionally handwoven in Tunisia by masterfully skilled artisans who use natural fiber deadstock yarn. Once the blanket weaver finishes the design on a large manual wooden loom, the Fouta’s borders are carefully knotted, tasseled, and fringed by Fouta Harissa’s team of finishers, women makers who work from the comfort of their homes. Fouta Harissa is dedicated to ensuring economic security, ethical labor practices, and artisanal job creation in Tunisia. All their weavers and finishers are employed full time and receive above market wages that exceed the living wage.
